| Seasilk Wins Top Award | |
| Seasilk won the top award in the 2009 San
Francisco Opening Day On The Bay Parade. We and our crew of hardy misfits won the
Ward Cleveland Memorial Award given by PICYA each year to the Best
Overall Decorated Boat in the parade. This is the first time this
award has been won by a boat from Oyster Point Yacht Club, and was a
true team effort by a host of members and guests -- It takes a village!
Seasilk was decorated as if
it were being attacked by a giant squid "Kraken". The
squid tentacles are 25 feet long. On the bow, there were two sets
of Damsels in distress being rescued by Heros...one, a damsel
in drag. On the stern, the sushi chef is calmly carving up the
squid to serve to her customer. Craig is hiding behind the eye
which rotates with a large canister of CO2 that we used to simulate
squid ink, while Sue Captains the vessel through the mayhem of boats
that is Opening Day. Our very loud music was the shower/knife theme from Psycho. |
