Fog and fishing boats just outside of Monterey Harbor

Sep 22

Departed Santa Cruz Harbor about 0800.  Would have been earlier, but we waited for the harbor patrol to come pick up our key and they never came; just too busy with boaters using their launch ramp.  We finally pulled over to the fuel pier and the deputy met us there and refunded our key deposit.

Once again, very little wind and this time lots of fog.  Visability did not exceed 1/2 mile until we were almost inside Monterey Harbor.  We motor-sailed most of the way at 6+ knots and 2000 RPM.  Arriving into Monterey at 1130.  We are in a dock slip this time...not an end-tie; should allow Craig to get some of the paint repair done that he has been planning for weeks.  Sue rode her bike 6 miles down the coast to Asilomar Conference Center for a Genentech meeting.

While Sue was at work, Craig made friends with husband and wife, Jeff & Angelia on dock "A".  Jeff would like to be a Hylas owner some day.  Jeff invited Craig to join he and the owner of a real racing boat for Wed. evening beer-can racing tomorrow.

We went to a very nice French restaurant for dinner, Bistro Moulin on Foam Street in Monterey.  They are known for their spinach gnocchi, which we had as an appetizer.
